With the Panasonic G3 during my ‘well being’ morning sessions. These are from Amstelveen in North Holland.

The new flagship camera for Nikon, the Nikon D4 is finally here.
In addition, Nikon has also announced an updated version of the 85mm prime, the 85mm f/1.8 AF-S G. Availability for the US has been announced, UK as always lags slightly behind.
Oops, slip up from an analyst … big slap on the wrist for this inadvertent leak. See the link for details on the new Nikon D4 and the 80mm f/1.8 AF-S G Nikkor lens. Search Google Cache if it’s taken off air. Alternatively check out the NikonRumours site.
* Update: Could this be a phishing site? Possibly, check out Ken Rockwell’s take on this. Strangely, the site has been posting more news e.g. on the new Fuji Pro camera. Time will tell.

OK, finally bit the ‘wallet’ and acquired the Zeiss 35, f/2 ZF.2 lens. I researched this lens a lot and will post my thoughts on the decision making process later. It was a toss-up between this and the Samyang 35mm f/1.4 lens.
Here are some captures from Amsterdam after walking out of Fotobooms who must be commended for their service. I also had my Nikon sensor cleaned as they had a free “Nikon Schoonmaken Dag” organised. It was embarrassing to see the amount of dust bunnies on my sensor.

First few images out and about on Amsterdamse Bos (forest) in the Netherlands. The focus is smooth and the feel of the lens is quite in another league as compared to the equivalent Nikon offerings. I did notice that I accidentally kept moving the aperture control ring on the lens as you cannot lock it down to ‘infinity’. Otherwise I am pleasantly surprised at the build quality of the lens, it’s image quality, and the potential to use it for low light and creative photography
